During the 2021 pandemic, in all these Cycladic empty churches and their adjacent buildings, I discovered that something beyond the simple geometry of their architecture disturbed and fascinated me at the same time.
The tranquillity and stillness of the surrounding area, the loose stones on the floor, the cracks in these smooth walls and the cracked paint contrasted with the weight of the deserved but absent prayers. Only silence and stones.
